How to Connect MetaMask to Binance Smart Chain — BSC Mainnet
Get ready to use BSC DeFi projects with this simple guide

Update: I wrote a generic updated guide about adding custom networks to MetaMask. You can take a look at it below.
Binance Smart Chain is very hot these days. It removes the entry barrier for newcomers to the DeFi space thanks to low transaction fees.
To interact with any BSC projects, you have to own a wallet connected to the BSC mainnet. MetaMask is one of the best crypto wallets out there and easy to use. Supported by many BSC applications. You can use it as a browser extension or mobile app.
However, MetaMask is an Ethereum wallet by default. Some configuration is needed to support other networks. Here is a step-by-step guide to connecting MetaMask to the BSC mainnet.
Prerequisites
You need to install MetaMask and have an account before starting any steps below. Please refer to the Getting Started With MetaMask page on their support site if you don’t have it already.
You should have some BNB before using any BSC DeFi project. It’s the default currency for the network. The best place to buy BNB is of course Binance. If you still don’t have a Binance account yet you can click the below link to create an account with my referral.
Custom RPC Setup for MetaMask Browser Extension
Open the MetaMask wallet by clicking the extension button. Then open the networks window by clicking the network dropdown on the top, as demonstrated below.
