Running a Bitcoin full node on an AWS was a joy. It took some time to find the optimal settings but nothing crazy. Finishing IBD in under 12 hours and optimizing the instance to run for under $30 a month afterward felt great ๐Ÿ˜Œ I thought the hard part was behind, but guess what? I was wrong ๐Ÿค•

Since IBD was fast and Bitcoin Core ran even on a low spec afterward, I thought ordinals indexing shouldnโ€™t be a big issue. I planned to use a higher-spec instance during initial indexing and then downgrade the instance to save money. But something was wrong. No matter how many cores or RAM I assigned, the indexing speed was the same.

It took me some time to understand the bottleneck and find an affordable solution.

This time weโ€™ll visit the world of Linux system monitoring and instance performance improvements. By the end, weโ€™ll have a fully indexedโ€ฆ
