Bitcoin Ordinals
Use Bitcoin Ordinals on AWS as Affordable as Possible 💸
Ordinals indexing is pain and expensive. Learn how to use painkillers 💊
Running a Bitcoin full node on an AWS was a joy. It took some time to find the optimal settings but nothing crazy. Finishing IBD in under 12 hours and optimizing the instance to run for under $30 a month afterward felt great 😌 I thought the hard part was behind, but guess what? I was wrong 🤕
Since IBD was fast and Bitcoin Core ran even on a low spec afterward, I thought ordinals indexing shouldn’t be a big issue. I planned to use a higher-spec instance during initial indexing and then downgrade the instance to save money. But something was wrong. No matter how many cores or RAM I assigned, the indexing speed was the same.
It took me some time to understand the bottleneck and find an affordable solution.
This time we’ll visit the world of Linux system monitoring and instance performance improvements. By the end, we’ll have a fully indexed…
